From foundation to the present
Česká asociace elektronických komunikací z.s. (the Czech Association of Electronic Communications) has undergone a number of changes down the years. It was founded on 18 December 1998 under the name of Česká asociace kabelových komunikací (the Czech Association of Cable Communications). It was also under this name that the Association was registered by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic on 15 February 1999 (file number VS/1-1/39 060/99-R). Activity at the Association became broader, leading to a change of name to Česká asociace kompetitivních komunikací (the Czech Association of Competitive Communications) on 18 December 2001. In light of a change in the terminology used, the Association changed its name again on 6 September 2007, becoming Česká asociace elektronických komunikací o. s. (the Czech Association of Electronic Communications). The Association became subject to the regulation of association activity in the new Civil Code in 2014, suffixing its name with the abbreviation “z. s.” (registered association).
